8 Essential Oils To Treat Eczema
Eczema is a skin condition that is characterized by the skin becoming inflamed; redness appears on the skin surface, and itchy and scaly forming on the skin surface. These skin conditions affect up to 30 million people in the United States with over 450 million occurrences in the world. This skin condition can be treated at home using a homemade recipe with essential oils.

Essential oil is oil extracted and press from seed and leaves of flowers and plant. This essential oil is filled with numerous nutrients that can help to remove and fade eczema. Instead of using chemical filled creams and lotions that can aggravate and cause serious damage to your skin, so why not go for natural made treatment using essential oil.

In this post, we are going to look at 8 different essential oils that you can use to treat eczema using homemade recipes.

Tea Tree Oil
This first essential oil on my list of essential oils to treat eczema is tea tree oil. It has antiseptic properties, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant which can be used on the skin, hair, scalp, and aromatherapy without worrying about any side effect.
It helps to reduce the itchiness, redness, and inflammation that is associated with eczema and also contains terpinen-4-ol that has been proven to kill certain types of bacteria, virus, and fungi.

  • Mix 5 drops of tea tree oil in a cup containing a ¼ cup of jojoba oil and stir it together until it forms a homogenous mixture.
  • Wash the affected area with water and pat it dry with soft towel.
  • Dip a ball of a cotton swab into the mixture and apply it to the affected part of skin twice a day.

Lavender Essential Oil
Lavender essential oil is a sweet smelling oil that you can use a carrier for other essential oil or use alone to treat eczema. It has a powerful anti-inflammatory property which helps to reduce the swelling and redness associated with eczema.

  • Add 7 – 10 drops of lavender essential to your bath water and stir it together.
  • Soak in the bath for at least 20 minutes for a soothing relief.

Chamomile Essential Oil
Eczema is a skin condition is accompanied by redness, swelling, and pain. Chamomile can be used on the skin pores to treat eczema by exfoliating the skin pores to remove the material that blocked the skin pores; the herb can be taken orally or applied topically on the affected area of the skin. The presence of bisabolol in chamomile which is responsible for the anti-inflammatory properties and anti-bacterial properties.
Directions

  • In a small bowl, containing hot water and a few drops of chamomile oil. 
  • Once the solution becomes cold, transfer it to a small bottle and cover the bottle with cap.
  • Wash your face with clean water to remove dirt and pat it dry.
  • Dip a swab of the cotton ball into the solution and dab it on the affected area.
  • Wash the solution off from affected area after 15 minutes with water. 

Neroli Essential Oil
Neroli essential oil can be used on the inflamed skin to bring about fast relieve, this property makes it useful when it comes to treating eczema or acne or pimples. It reduces the inflammation and helps to exfoliate the skin.

  • In a small cup, add 7 drops of neroli essential oil and 2 cups of coconut oil, stir it together.
  • Wash your face with water and pat it dry with a soft towel.
  • Dip a swab of the cotton ball into the solution and dab it on the affected area.
  • Wash the solution off from affected area after 15 minutes with water. 

Thyme Essential Oil
Thyme essential oil is oil extracted from thyme pungent herb used in flavoring foods. The oil is filled with antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties which can be used to treat eczema.

  • In a small cup, add 7 drops of thyme essential oil and ½ cup of coconut oil, stir it together.
  • Wash your face with water and pat it dry with a soft towel.
  • Dip a swab of the cotton ball into the solution and dab it on the affected area.
  • Wash the solution off from affected area after 15 minutes with water. 

Hyssop Essential Oil
Hyssop is an herb that is used to flavor food and as beverages. The oil extracted from the oil is a volatile oil that is used as perfume. The essential oil extracted from the hyssop contains anti-inflammatory properties which can be used to treat eczema and other skin conditions.

  • In a small cup, add 7 drops of hyssop essential oil and 2 cups of coconut oil, stir it together.
  • Wash your face with water and pat it dry with a soft towel.
  • Dip a swab of the cotton ball into the solution and dab it on the affected area.
  • Wash the solution off from affected area after 15 minutes with water. 

Geranium Essential Oil
Geranium essential oil has a wide use in the soap and perfume industry, the oil has sweet smelling and can be used to treat eczema and also as a carrier oil for other powerful essential oil.

  • In a small cup, add 5 drops of geranium essential oil and ½ cup of avocado oil, stir it together.
  • Wash your face with water and pat it dry with a soft towel.
  • Dip a swab of the cotton ball into the solution and dab it on the affected area.
  • Wash the solution off from affected area after 15 minutes with water.

Bergamot Essential Oil
Bergamot essential oil is extracted from the bergamot orange, the oil extracted from the plant fruit has a sweet smell and is used to flavor food and industrial use in the perfume and soap industry. You can use the bergamot oil to treat eczema because of the presence of anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

  • In a small cup, add 7 drops of bergamot essential oil and ½ cup of coconut oil, stir it together.
  • Wash your face with water and pat it dry with a soft towel.
  • Dip a swab of the cotton ball into the solution and dab it on the affected area.
  • Wash the solution off from affected area after 15 minutes with water.
