8 Natural Treatment For Rosacea

Rosacea is a skin inflammation characterized by redness, swollen, inflamed, and burning sensation on the skin surface. The major difference between rosacea and other skin condition is the burning sensation which is caused when the Demodex mites inhabit the skin surface.
This skin condition is caused as a result of too much consumption of alcohol, eating spicy foods, and hormonal change in women during menopause. They blocked the skin pores or hair follicles and irritate the skin thereby causing the swelling, redness, and burning sensation on the skin surface.

In this post, we are going to look at different natural methods that you can use to treat rosacea at home.  These methods are quite effective when you compare with creams and lotions but they do not cause further damage to your skin surface. They help to soothe and calm the skin pores and exfoliate the foreign material that causes rosacea on the skin.

Raw Honey
Raw honey is the first on our list of natural ingredients that you can use to treat rosacea. Raw honey is filled with anti-inflammatory properties which help to relieve the inflamed and swollen skin. Raw honey acts as humectants that lock the moisture content on the skin to prevent the skin from becoming dry and the presence of antimicrobial in honey kills microbes on the skin surface.
Directions

  • Wash your face with water and pat it dry with a soft towel.
  • Apply 1 tablespoon of raw honey to the affected area and use your finger to gently massage the honey on your face.
  • Leave the honey on your face for 5 minutes and wash it off with cold water.

Aloe Vera Gel
Aloe vera is one of the most potent antibiotics and anti-inflammatory ingredients, the enzyme bradykinase present in aloe vera helps to reduce the inflammation and swelling The presence of vitamin A and E helps in the fighting free radicals and helps to slow the aging of the skin. It has been proven scientifically that aloe vera helps in treating rosacea, acne, pimples, eczema, and ringworm leaving you with a clean and hydrated skin.

  • Cut the fresh aloe vera leaves into two and extract the gel inside the leave. 
  • Wash your face with water and pat it dry with a soft towel.
  • Apply the gel to your skin and leave it for 20 minutes before washing it off with water. 
  • You can try this at home, to enhance the potency of aloe vera against skin diseases and irritant, you can add lemon juice, honey, and essential oil.

Ice
Ice can be used to reduce the swelling, redness, and inflammation that is associated with rosacea. Ice opens the skin pores and removes the sebum, dirt, and dead skin cell that blocked the skin pores improves the blood circulation to the affected part.

  • Wrap the ice in a piece of soft cloth and place it all on the affected area and leave it on for few minutes.

Rosewater
Rose water is powerful water made when you dipped rose petal in water. It has anti-inflammatory properties, which in turn help to maintains and regulate the skin pH level, reduce the redness and swelling. This property makes it useful for treating skin diseases like rosacea, acne, pimples, and eczema.

  • Wash the affected area with water and pat it dry using a soft towel.
  • Apply a small amount of rosewater to the affected area and use your finger to massage the rosewater on the affected area.
  • Leave it on for 20 minutes with water and pat your skin dry.
  • When you have a burning sensation on your skin, you can apply rosewater on your face.

Colloidal Oatmeal
Colloidal oatmeal is finely divided oatmeal that you can use to treat rosacea, it helps to soothe and calm down the skin this is why it is useful for rosacea, psoriasis, and eczema.

  • Grind ½ cup of oatmeal into powder, or you can buy oatmeal powder directly from the market and add 3 tablespoons of lemon juice to form a paste. 
  • Wash your face with water and pat it to dry with a soft towel.
  • Scrub the paste on your face and leave it on for ten minutes or until it dries.
  • Washing the face mask off from your face with warm water and pat your face dry.

Tea Tree Oil
Tea tree oil is useful when it comes to killing Demodex mites that aggravate rosacea.

  • Mix 10 drops of tea tree oil with one tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil and one tablespoon of coconut oil thoroughly and apply the mixture to the affected part until the pain and swelling goes away.

Green Tea
Green tea can be used to relieve the swelling and redness associated with skin disease. One of the most important antioxidant present in green tea is myricetin which can be used to reduce swelling and redness of the skin.
Ingredients
2 teaspoon of green tea
4 teaspoon of aloe vera gel
4 drops of tea tree oil
4 drops of lavender oil
4 drops of coconut oil
Directions

  • Add 1 tea bag of green tea in a cup containing hot water and wait for 20 minutes for it to brewing thoroughly.
  • Pour 2 teaspoon of green tea in a small bowl and add 4 teaspoons of aloe vera gel, 4 drops of tea tree oil, 4 drops of lavender oil, and 4 drops of coconut oil to the bowl.
  • Mix the mixture together with a spoon and pour the mixture into a bottle.
  • Cover the bottle with a cap and store it in a cool and dry place.
  • When you want to use the face moisturizer, just pour few drops to your palm and rub in on your face.
  • Leave it on for few minutes and wash it off with water.
  • Pat your face dry with a soft towel.

Coconut Oil
Coconut oil has anti-bacterial properties which kill the Demodex mites which aggravate the rosacea in the skin, it also has anti-inflammatory properties which help to soothe and calm the skin.

  • Wash your face with water and pat it dry with a soft towel.
  • Apply a few amounts of coconut oil to the affected area and use your finger to massage the oil on the affected area.
  • Leave the oil on your face for 5 minutes and wash it off with water.
