DIY Rosemary Shampoo for Hair

When it comes to shampoo that you can prepare at home using homemade recipes, one of the best shampoo for hair is rosemary oil or rosemary essential oil.

The use of rosemary oil is not folktales but one that is backed by scientifical studies. Different studies have been conducted on the use of rosemary oil for hair, one of the studies is the Iranian studies on rosemary for hair loss, The Iranian Studies compare how rosemary oil performed against hair loss and 2% ofminoxidil solution against hair loss, the two solutions (rosemary oil and minoxidil) was used twice daily. 100 people with androgenic alopecia wereselected and grouped into two group A & B, Group A was given rosemary oil while group B was given 2% of minoxidil solution for 6 months. At the end of the studies, Group A using rosemary oil recorded a 5.5% hair growth while Group B experience 2.2% hair growth during the same period. The studies further confirmed other people claim that rosemary oil can be used for the regeneration of hair.

How to Prepare Rosemary Oil for Hair

2 tablespoon of rosemary oil
1 teaspoon of jojoba oil
½ cup of water
¼ cup of castile soap
10 drops of lavender oil
5 drops of peppermint oil


Pour all the ingredients into a shampoo bottle and close the bottle.
Shake the shampoo bottle, the resulting soap is your rosemary oil shampoo that you will use on your hair, store it in a cool and dry place.
Wet your hair with water and apply the shampoo to your wet hair and scalp.
Ensure that the shampoo reaches all the necessary area by using your finger to massage and spread the shampoo to another part of your hair. It will help in removing the dirt, sebum, and impurities that blocked the scalp.
Wash it off after three to five minutes with lukewarm water thoroughly.
